High blood pressure usually has no signs or symptoms, and so hypertension has been labeled “the silent killer.” Longstanding high blood pressure can lead to multiple complications including heart attack, kidney disease, or stroke, so the only way to know if you have high blood pressure is to have yours measured. 

Some people experience symptoms with their high blood pressure. These symptoms include:

*.Headache- usually, this will last for      several days.

*.Nausea – a sensation of unease and      discomfort in the stomach with an      urge to vomit.

*.Vomiting – less common than just        nausea.

*.Dizziness – Light headedness,                unsteadiness, and vertigo.

*.Blurred ordouble vision (diplopia).

*.Palpitations – disagreeable                      sensations of irregular and/or                forceful beating of the heart.

*.Dyspnea – breathlessness, shortness    of breath.

What Causes High Blood Pressure?

For most people, there may be no single cause for their High Blood Pressure. We do not know exactly what causes High Blood Pressure. We do know that your lifestyle can affect your risk of developing it.

There are some factors that increase your risk of developing high blood pressure, which you cannot control. These include:

Age: as you get older, the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle can build up and your blood pressure can increase.

Ethnic origin: people from African-Caribbean and South Asian communities are at greater risk than other people of High Blood Pressure.

Family history: you are at greater risk if other members of your family have had High Blood Pressure.

Temperature: A study that monitored 8,801 participants over the age of 65 found that systolic and diastolic blood pressure values differed significantly across the year and according to the distribution of outdoor temperature. Blood pressure was lower when it got warmer, and rose when it got colder.

Obesity and overweight: Both overweight and obese people are more likely to develop high blood pressure, compared to people of normal weight.

Smoking: Smoking causes the blood vessels to narrow, resulting in higher blood pressure. Smoking also reduces the blood’s oxygen content so the heart has to pump faster in order to compensate, causing a rise in blood pressure.

Alcohol intake: People who drink regularly have higher systolic blood pressure than people who do not, according to researchers. They found that systolic blood pressure levels are about 7 mmHg higher in frequent drinkers than in people who do not drink.

Mental stress: Various studies have offered compelling evidence that mental stress, especially over the long term, can have a serious impact on blood pressure. One study suggested thatthe way that air traffic controllers handle stress can affect whether theyare at risk of developing high blood pressure later in life.

Diabetes: People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing hypertension. Among patients with type 1 diabetes, high blood sugar is a risk factor for incident hypertension – effective and consistent blood sugar control, with insulin, reduces the long-term risk of developing hypertension.

Psoriasis: A study that followed 78,000 women for 14 years found that having psoriasis was linked to a higher risk of developing high blood pressure and diabetes. Psoriasis is an immune system condition that appears on the skin in the form of thick, red scaly patches.

Pregnancy: Pregnant women have a higher risk of developing hypertension than women of the same age who are not pregnant. It is the most common medical problem encountered during pregnancy, complicating 2% to 3% of all pregnancies.

The 2004 British Hypertension Society guidelines proposed lifestyle changes consistent with those outlined by the US National High BP Education Program in 2002 for the primary prevention of hypertension:

*.reduce dietary sodium intake to            <100 mmol/ day (<6 g of sodium            chloride or <2.4 g of sodium per            day)

*.engage in regular aerobic physical      activity such as brisk walking (≥30      min per day, most days of the week)

*.limit alcohol consumption to no            more than 3 units/day in men and        no more than 2 units/day in women

*.consume a diet rich in fruit and            vegetables (e.g. at least five portions    per day);

Latest Research Found Genetic Mutations Has One Of The Causes Of Severe Eczema

For more than 17 million people in the United States living with severe eczema – a condition that results in dry, and itchy rashes.

In a study, mutations in a gene known as CARD11 were identified as one underlying cause for severe eczema. Severe eczema can run in families, which suggests a genetic cause.

These CARD11 mutations can prevent T cells  from being able to do their jobs normally. The mutations prevent the cells from taking in enough glutamine, which is needed for T cells to maintain their proper function. This also explain why some patients with severe eczema have a history of pneumonia, warts, and other types of lung and othee skin infections.

Parents traveling overseas with children should know health risks and how to avoid them.

An estimated 1.9 million American children travel internationally each year, and the number is increasing. In general, children face most of the same health risks as their parents, but the consequences can be more serious. Some conditions can be difficult to recognize in children, especially in those who aren’t talking yet. If you are planning to travel to another country with your kids, be familiar with the risks of travel to help them stay safe and healthy.

DIARRHEA

Diarrhea is among the most common illnesses experienced by children who are traveling. For infants, the best way to prevent diarrhea is breastfeeding. Older children visiting developing countries should follow basic food and water precautions: eat only food that is cooked and served hot, peel fresh fruits and vegetables or wash them in clean water, and drink only beverages from sealed containers or water that has been boiled or treated. Children should wash their hands or use alcohol-based hand cleaner frequently.
Diarrhea can be serious in infants and small children because of the risk of dehydration. The best treatment for diarrhea in children is to give plenty of fluids; there is usually no need to give medicine. Oral rehydration salts (available online or in stores in most developing countries) may be used to prevent dehydration. Over-the-counter drugs that contain bismuth (Pepto-Bismol and Kaopectate) should not be used in children, and antibiotics are usually reserved for serious cases. A child who appears to be severely dehydrated, or whohas a fever or bloody stools, should get immediate medical attention.

Malaria and Other Diseases

Children who travel to areas where malaria is a risk should take drugs to prevent malaria, just like their parents. A doctor can tell you which malaria medicine is best for your child. Many of these drugs have a bitter taste, but a pharmacist can pulverize the capsules and put the powder in a flavorless gelatin capsule. Because of the risk of overdose, malaria drugs should be stored in childproof containers and kept out of the reach of children.
Malaria drugs are not 100% effective, and other diseases (such as dengue, leishmaniasis, and trypanosomiasis) also are spread by insects, so children (and their parents!) need to avoid bug bites. Rabies

Rabies is more common in children than in adults because children are more likely to try to pet strange animals. Any animal bite should be washed thoroughly with soap and water and must receive medical attention as soon as possible.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death in children who travel, and drowning is the second-leading cause of death. Children should always ride in age-appropriate car seats when traveling. Parents should plan to bring car seats with them because they may not be available in many countries. Children should be supervised closely and should always wear a life preserver around water.

Routine and Travel Vaccines

If possible, children should complete their routine childhood vaccines on the normal schedule before traveling overseas. However, if they must travel earlier, accelerated schedules are available for many vaccines. Some travel vaccines cannot be given to very young children, so it’s important to check with a travel medicine doctor, who should consult the child’s pediatrician, as early as possible before travel.

Six Mistakes People Make That Bring About Redness Of The Skin

Anyone with sensitive skin knows the struggles with redness. Women are mostly affected by rosacea more frequently than men because the female skin are more soft and not as hard as that of the male. Skin redness sometimes come and go in most people but in some individual it just seem like an ever endless problem.

There are many reason why most people never seem to get the red out.

Not treating the true cause of your redness.

There are many creams on the market that promise to correct redness but often fail to address the underlying issue. For instance, redness from dry skin needs a completely different treatment than redness from rosacea. Skin can also become red due to symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, or from over exposure to sun or dry weather.

Washing your face with a foaming cleanser. Washing your face in the morning and at night is essential for healthy skin, but using the wrong cleanser can further irritate it, making it more red and inflamed. Many foaming cleansers are formulated with ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, or ammonium laureth sulfate.

These are surfactants used to cut oil from the skin, but they are particularly harsh and will strip skin of its water and oils, leaving it feeling tight and more irritated.

Always use a sulfate-free cleanser that won’t dry out skin. More specifically, look for cleansers with hydrating and soothing properties, such as those containing Aloe vera. I recommend the Aloe 92% Shower Gel 250ml


Using too many exfoliating products. Moisturizers, scrubs, and astringent toners with glycolic acid are problematic. Overly vigorous exfoliation with these products can also traumatize the superficial blood vessels of the skin and make them more prominent, which is the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve.  

 

You’re stripping your skin instead of protecting it. Rather than exfoliating, start by repairing the barrier. Look for products with skin-repairing ceramides to seal the cracks between skin cells.
