Walnuts, botanically called tetracarpodium conophorum or plukenetra conophorun. The African walnuts belong to the family euphorbracese. These nuts are harvested in December and are available all year round.

They are from an ornamental tree that is highly price for its beauty, the seed kernel is edible. Eaten raw they have a bitter flavour and considered to be tonic and aphrodisiac.

Numerous medical studies have demonstrated that walnuts have amazing health benefits and should be incorporated in everyone diet. The reason why black walnut is so much praised is because it contains what is known as omega3 polyunsaturated fats, along with a proper percentage of protein and carbohydrates.
